Tucked away in the southeastern corner of costa rica is playa punta uva. This tropical paradise will get you away from the crowds. windows Here, lush forests meet soft sand, offering plenty of shady spots to spread out your towels before frolicking in the caribbean. Pack a book, snacks, a cooler for drinks, and a buddy! you may not see another person on this secluded beach all day. The nearest city is puerto viejo, a 15-minute drive away. On costa rica’s caribbean coast, just above the panamanian border, playa manzanillo is the prototypical beach with white-sand shores, azure waters, and a backdrop of palm-fringed rainforest courtesy of the gandoca-manzanillo wildlife refuge. But despite the abundance of coral reefs, which can be explored by kayak or swimming thanks to the area’s gentle waves, its remote location has largely kept it off the tourist radar (don’t be surprised if your only neighbors are manatees and dolphins). If you’re looking for low-key luxury, set up camp at the tree house lodge in nearby punta uva, where five sustainably built villas are situated around a century-old sangrillo tree.

The beaches at the osa península in the province of puntarenas costa rica are not as popular among vacationists as the beaches in guanacaste, part of this has to do with the distance, the osa península is a long drive from san josé, and these region is usually promoted more as an ecotourism destination since the corovado national park is located here. If you haven’t visited the osa penísula you are certainly missing out, it is one of the most beautiful and vibrant areas of costa rica, a representation of the country, small towns, incredible lush nature and beautiful beaches.

Playa flamingo is located just north of tamarindo on the “gold coast” of costa rica, near 2 other popular beaches, brasilito and conchal. This beach is quite stunning with its white sand and crystal clear waters, and great for surfing and boogie boarding. Playa flamingo is well known for sport fishing as well scuba diving, since there is abundant marine life found here. If you visit playa flamingo between december and easter, it can get quite crowded, so our suggestion if you visit during this season is to come mid-week early in the morning or late in the day.

The best time to visit costa rica is between december and april. This is the country’s dry season when the weather is at its finest and you’ll find many backpackers travelling through cost rica. The downside of visiting during their ‘summer’ is that prices for accommodation, travel, and tours are more expensive than the rest of the year. When it comes to beaches in costa rica, it’s a little more complicated. That’s because the weather on the country’s pacific and caribbean coasts is different. High season is the best time to visit the pacific coast; however, that’s between march and september on the caribbean side.
