MANTECA INNOVATIONS

The Manteca Innovations company is off and running.

A student in Manteca Unified School District 9th-12th Grades can participate in the Independent Study program.

Formerly known as BE. Technology Innovations is part of the district's Careers Technical Education pathway, which integrates academic and technical knowledge.

A CTE program has been in the works at the district office complex and Lathrop High since last spring, overseen by Manteca Adult School Principal Brad Harrison. A few of the classes offered at the latter include industrial maintenance / industrial maintenance, welding / fabrication, introductory fire science, and first responder / emergency medicine.

In terms of the restructured MUSD program, he said Wednesday that the kinks have been ironed out.

It has been Ryan Costa's responsibility to speak with local employers about the need for warehouse workers outside of entry-level jobs or higher paying jobs in order to obtain better living wages.

An electro-pneumatic system or a hydraulic system needs to be repaired. His employer is looking for a jack of all trades.

In order to accomplish this, Manteca Innovations has some of the latest technology in machinery and instructors with the requisite expertise.

Manteca District Ambulance employee Angela Ott is a teacher and an EMT. The objective of this day's fire safety drill was to have students quickly put on their fire equipment gear in under a minute.

In 39 seconds, Sierra High's Luke Abreu accomplished that feat.

It is imperative to act quickly (in an emergency situation), Ott said.

A combat medicine background is part of James Ward's education. A decade ago, he came to MUSD in search of physical education. In addition to teaching emergency medicine, he held a full-time job.

He offers his students from Sierra, Manteca High, East Union, Weston Ranch, and Lathrop the opportunity to take the EMT National Registry Test before graduating.

There is a close connection between the classes Costa teaches and the classes Mike Patterson teaches.

Costa has been an instructor at MUSD for more than 15 years. Among the courses he teaches here are industrial maintenance & industrial manufacturing.

Our money and resources have been structured into this program, he said.

Occupational credentials and micro-credentials can be earned via Smart Automation Certification Alliance by students using Amatrols innovative, interactive training systems, including Electrical Wiring Learning, Applied Electrical Control, and AC / DC Electrical.

As well as classes in advanced manufacturing, Costa offers laser cutting tables and 3-D printers.

Patterson taught BE.Tech courses at the district for six years, piggybacking on Ryan's program.

Utilizing cutting-edge equipment, he teaches welding and fabrication classes.

LHS's Patterson expressed gratitude for CBC Steel Buildings' $40000 donation of steel from his machine shop.

Harrison was equally grateful.

We are in a state-of-the-art shop here. This is a wonderful place for our kids, he said.

Manteca Innovations students also learn job-skills via advanced courses at Modesto Junior College in Manteca, Delta College, or a trade school of their choice in addition to learning a trade and earning a certificate.

Harrison, Costa, and others have worked with local junior colleges to connect this program to Manteca Adult School.
